It's All In The Craft
Made by passionate and exacting craftsmen with infinite patience, our leather objects can last a lifetime if cared for properly.
A living material, leather changes, softens, and gains a patina with time. Mikhel Alexander uses only full grain vegetable tanned leather, worked in such a way as to ensure that the grain and natural features – wrinkles, veins, pores – remain visible. Far from being flaws, these nuances reveal the skin’s ‘transparency’, the expression of its excellent quality and ability to age well.

Please read the following tips carefully, as they will help you preserve the uniqueness and quality of your Mikhel Alexander leather object.

The Process
The vegetable-tanning is a ancient process based on the use of tannins, the active ingredient responsible for the transformation of the animal hide into a compact and resistant material. Tanins can be found in many different trees and plants, in variable concentration according to the different species. These natural tannin extracts make vegetable-tanned leather unique and easily distinguishable.
Care
These tips will help keeping your object in great condition
To preserve the elegant lines of your bag, do not overfill. To minimize the risk of color bleeding onto leather or clothing, avoid prolonged contact between light and dark colors.
Avoid prolonged exposure to sunlight, artificial light and humidity. If your bag gets wet, dry the area carefully with an absorbent, non-pilling cloth.
Use a soft cloth and avoid any care products that may alter the finish of your bag. To help reduce the look of marks on the surface of veg-tan leather, gently rub in a circular motion.
Wrap any chains or straps with tissue paper, and store your bag upright in its original dust bag.
Appreciate the natural patina of your bag. Day after day, it reveals a new aspect of the bag’s beauty and history — as well as yours.
